50% of children in India today don’t complete school, and 73% of them don’t get to go to college! Our ability to equip these current and future citizens for the 21st century will shape the prosperity of the largest democracy on the planet. Solving this crisis needs a bold vision.
‘Teach For India’ (TFI) has long held that this work of nation-building begins in its classrooms, and has been recruiting the best leadership talent from colleges in India to serve as full-time teachers in underserved urban schools in India since 2009. It’s an ambition that needs championship from each one of us that believes in the power of education, and the aspiration of India’s underserved children.
And it’s why I have chosen to serve on the board of TFI US - a 501(c)3 organization empowering TFI with the resources it needs to create depth of impact, at scale.
This January, I visited a government school in Mumbai to observe, first-hand, the quality of pedagogy delivered by Teach For India’s Fellows, the empathy they carry for their children, and the transformative impact of a holistic education on some of the most vulnerable student communities. I was really impressed by the dedication of the teachers and the high-quality of the classroom teaching. The kids were genuinely excited to learn from the TFI fellows.
I wanted to share this with you and invite you to join me in supporting this cause. I hope you will consider making a donation at a level that is meaningful to you. You can make your contribution here. If you would like to learn more about TFI US, you could reach out to me, I would be happy to chat with you or connect you with our Executive Director.
